Fixed Tooth Replacement

Dental Implants

A missing tooth affects how you chew, speak and smile. An implant replaces the root as well as the crown, so the new tooth is fixed, stable and looks and feels like your own.

A new root, not just a new tooth

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone. Once it bonds with the bone, it supports a crown that looks, feels and works like a natural tooth.

Bridges and dentures replace the visible part of a tooth. An implant also replaces the root, which is what keeps the jawbone healthy and stops neighbouring teeth from drifting into the gap. Nothing is cut down on the teeth either side, and nothing is removed at night.

At VIN SMILES we offer conventional implants as well as digitally planned implants. For digital cases, a high-resolution 3D CBCT scan and a custom surgical guide let us place each implant with sub-millimetre accuracy. We also provide immediate implants after extraction, mini implants, sinus lifts and bone grafting when the bone needs support first.

Is an implant right for you?

Implants suit most adults who have lost one or more teeth and have healthy gums. These are the situations we see most often.

  • A single missing tooth you would like to replace without touching the neighbours
  • Several missing teeth, or a long-standing gap
  • A loose or uncomfortable denture
  • A tooth that cannot be saved and needs extraction
  • Difficulty chewing on one side
  • A bridge that has failed or keeps coming loose

Bone volume, gum health and medical history all matter. Your CBCT scan tells us exactly how much bone is available before anything is planned.

The process

What to expect, step by step. Your own timeline is confirmed once we have examined you.

1
Consultation and 3D planning

Clinical examination and photographs, with your implant planned on a CBCT 3D scan. We check bone volume, gum health and bite before recommending anything.

2
Digital plan

The implant position, angle and final tooth shape are planned digitally. For guided cases a custom surgical guide is made from the plan.

3
Implant placement

The implant is placed under local anaesthesia. Most patients are surprised how comfortable it is. Bone grafting or a sinus lift is done at this stage if needed.

4
Healing

The implant bonds with the bone over the following weeks. A temporary tooth can often be fitted so you are never without a smile.

Final crown

A custom crown is made to match your natural teeth in shape and shade, then fitted and checked for a comfortable bite.

Why patients choose VIN SMILES for implants

Implant treatment is planned by a specialist prosthodontist with postgraduate training in oral implantology, with placement supported by our oral and maxillofacial surgeons. The person planning your final tooth is involved from the very first scan.

We use Grade 4 titanium and zirconia, CBCT-guided planning for digital cases, and The Wand STA computer-controlled anaesthesia for a calmer experience. The clinic reports a 98.7% implant success rate.

Common questions

Placement is done under local anaesthesia, delivered with The Wand STA system. Most patients describe mild soreness for a few days afterwards, similar to an extraction, which settles with simple pain relief.

It depends on bone quality and whether grafting is needed. Many cases need a healing period of a few months between placement and the final crown. Immediate implants can shorten this. Your timeline is confirmed once your CBCT scan has been reviewed.

There is no upper age limit. What matters is general health, bone volume and gum health. Many of our implant patients are in their sixties and seventies.

With good home care and regular check-ups, implants are designed to last many years, often decades. The crown on top may need replacing over time with normal wear.

A bridge relies on cutting down the neighbouring teeth. An implant stands on its own and protects the bone. We explain both options honestly and help you choose.
